Paul is head of the Oxford Atom Probe group. He oversees and supports research into a wide range of materials; structural materials for fission and fusion power, superalloys for aerospace applications, aluminium alloys for automotive structures, energy materials including heterogeneous catalysts and novel applications of APT including bio/geo-materials. He is interested in the development of new experimental methods to enhance the impact of APT, including hydrogen-charging/reaction cell systems for oxidation/hydrogen-embrittlement studies, along with new FIB approaches to specimen production. He actively collaborates with a wide range of UK-based and international institutions, including as a ‘Visiting Researcher for Correlative Atom Probe Tomography Development’ at the University of Glasgow.
